Nokia has finally chosen Microsoft Windows Phone Operating System as primary OS instead of its traditional Symbian OS and started production of Windows Phone based devices, Nokia Lumia 800 is the first Windows Phone Mango OS based device launched by Nokia. Lumia 800 is a solid and sleek smartphone with looks of Nokia N9 made by matte polycarbonate unibody chasis and features of Mango. It measures 4.58 x 2.40 x 0.47 inches in size and 142 gm of weight.
Nokia Lumia 800 features 3.7 inch curved touchscreen capacitive display that has 3 touch sensitive Windows Phone keys (back, home, search) below the screen. The AMOLED screen has standard Windows Phone 7.5 handset’s 800 x 480 pixels resolution. The screen comes with Gorilla Glass technology, Nokia ClearBlack display technology, Multi-touch input method, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and Touch sensitive controls.
Nokia Lumia 800 specifications includes 1.4 Ghz processor with Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, 3D Graphics Hardware Accelerator, 512 MB RAM, 16 GB of internal Storage memory. Although it does not have memory expansion slot due to OS limitation.
The Mango OS performance is so impressive, the single core processor will do most of the job that dual core processor does with other operating systems, which is a plus point for Nokia Lumia 800 features. We already told you about Mango OS, the Live Tiles interface is very innovative and differentiate Mango with other OS interface. Although currently it has no support for memory expansion slot, different screen resolution, NFC, bluetooth file transfer, dual core processor and 1080p video recording but according to Microsoft most of these functions will be added in Tango and Apollo versions of Windows Phone OS, which will be released in 2012.
Mango OS has social networking is built into the operating system. The People Hub pulls together feeds from Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in and all your contacts. Windows Phone will keep all threaded in the single conversation i.e. conversations in the messaging app can jump between text messaging and social media messaging, same you will find in Nokia Lumia 800 features.
Nokia Lumia 800 features a 8 megapixel camera similar to Nokia N9 at rear side with 3264×2448 pixels image resolution, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual-LED flash and Geo-tagging. It is capable to record HD Videos upto 720p @ 30 fps. It does not have front facing camera. Nokia Lumia 800 Specifications includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v 2.0 with A2DP+EDR, microUSB v2.0, Stereo FM radio with RDS, A-GPS support, SNS integration, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic and Digital compass. It comes with Special Nokia apps such as Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Store and Nokia Music which will not part of other handset maker’s devices based on Windows Phone OS. It will support Micro Sim card only. The Lumia 800 does not have 4G connectivity. It will come with 1450 mAh Standard Li-Ion battery capable up to 265 hours (2G) & 335 hours (3G) Stand-by time and up to 13 hours (2G) & 9 hours 30 minutes (3G) talk time.
