All you’ll need todo is goto Control Panel > Default Programs > Set program access and computer defaults then Select Microsoft Windows from the list and you should be able to see the IE icon in the Start Menu. Hope this helps as it did for myself. 🙂

Internet Explorer 8 is the last version of Internet Explorer to be supported on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003; the next version, Internet Explorer 9, is supported only on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 operating systems.

In my case, IE is set as default, but it completly disappeard from Start screen, I can’t even find it via search option. I can open it in metro using start screen bookmarks, but I can’t pin any other bookmark to start screen or even IE shortcut to Start screen,
I’m using Windows 8.1. Any suggestion to fix it?
